Push Buttons for 1939 Philco Sets

If you purchase these, you might consider also buying the Philco Corner Chassis Mounts listed below. Usually, the old mounts are squashed and don't hold the chassis up as high as it should be causing the control shafts and buttons to not line up with the holes in the cabinet and bezel.

Dimensions: These are 1-5/8 inches long by 1/2 by 1/2 with a rectangular slot in the bottom 3/16 in. long, by 1/16 wide, by 3/8 deep.

REPRODUCTION KNOBS

Knobs for Heathkit Tube Tester IT-17 (KHT17)

Replacement "Acorn" knobs for Emerson "Snow White" Radio (KEM-1)

These are knobs for a "Snow White" Radio, model BM-247, DB-247, or Q-236. The knobs are reproductions taken from originals and cast in resin. They are in the shape of cute little acorns and even have the wood grain showing in them as if they were made of wood like the originals. The color is a dark brown, and is set in the resin, not painted on. These are made to be pressed onto the half-round shafts and are a snug fit, so they won't be coming off easily.

$29.95 for the pair

Philco Wave Switch Lever (KPH-L)

This knob was used on most Philco radios from 1937 to 1938. Other years may also have used them. This lever is the knob used to switch between AM and Short Wave bands. Rider's manual schematics list this knob as #27-4326. If you are unsure if your radio uses this knob, look under Miscellaneous on the schematic sheets.

Here is a partial list of radios that use this knob:

1937: 11, 116, 610, 611, 623, 630, 640, 641, 643, 650, 651, 655, 660, 670, 675, 2670
1938: 1, 2, 3, 3-3, 116, 610, 620, 623, 630, 643, 690, 2670

These numbers may represent consoles, radio/record players, tombstones, cathedrals, or other table radios. The above numbers would be preceded by the last 2 digits of the year it was made, for example: 610 would be 37-610.

The "generic" knobs below were used on many small radios, either wood or Bakelite, mostly referred to as "Midget" radios. Many of these radios were sold through catalogs. There is often a "license" metal tag on the rear of the chassis. Most were made by a "supplier" manufacturer such as Warwick, Clinton, International Radio, Consolidated Radio and Television ("CR&TC") and many others. Most have the brand name on a brass badge on the front of the radio. This way the name was easy to change for whatever brand the retailer wanted. Some names were World, General, Deluxe, Harmony, etc. "Emerson" was probably the largest company in this "Midget" field.

(Models D-25, and 10-135 through 10-140,11-120 U through 11-125 U, and E-15. Maybe other models too.)

Note: THe Philco Rediobar 37-61 uses a similar part but these are a little too thick These can be used if you jam them in.

2 Grommets: $2.00

Philco Support Grommets for Tuners (GSm-Tuner)

Sparton Chassis Cushion: $2.00

Philco Chassis Corner Mounts (PHS-COR)

These rubber mounts are located on the four corners of the chassis and keep it suspended giving the chassis some "wiggle room" to prevent the tubes from being jarred by someone bumping the radio. These new corners mounts will bring your chassis back up to the correct height and your control shafts will then be centered in the cabinet holes instead of rubbing on the bottoms of the holes.

Found on models: 1935 models and 37-62-T, 38-4, 38-7, 38-9, 39-25, 39-30, 39-40, 40-30  40-50, 40-180, 40-150, 40-155, 40-158, 40-160, 40-165, 40-180, 40-185, 40-190, 41-265, 41-285, 41-295, 41-296, 42-39, 42-355 and more,  Philco television 48- 700, and probably other models. Philco Shadow Meter Mask (PSM)

If you've discovered some nasty black goop on the inside of your radio cabinet that has dripped down over the dial, tuner, and chassis, it's probably all that's left of the original shadow meter mask. This mask goes over the light-box end of the meter. It acts as a bumper against the front of the cabinet and also seals the opening so light goes where it's intended.

Dimensions: 1 x 1/2, 1/2 in. hole

4 RCA Support Grommets
$8.00

RCA Tuner Friction Roller (RCA-roller)

Used on model K60, K80, and probably others.

This friction roller presses against the tuning shaft pulley. The friction against the pulley face allows the tuning knob to turn the tuning shaft. These are frequently cracked, hardened, deformed, and the hole stripped out, causing slippage. This new roller is a very tight press-fit. A little glue, and a good tight fit should keep this from slipping for years. Made of hard urethane rubber.

Dimensions: 5/8" wide, 7/16" thick

1 RCA Friction Roller: $8.00

3 RCA motor grommets

3 RCA Motor Grommets: $7.00

Crosley "Dashboard" Speaker Gasket (GCrosley)

Frequently, the gasket between the speaker and the case is very hard and brittle, and may have pieces missing from it. If you are putting one of these fine radios back into working order, why not replace the gasket with a new, supple, rubber one. Just pull out three retainers, and push this one in place, pop in the old retainers, and your radio will thank you.

Dimensions: 5/8 inch thick, 2-1/2" gap in bottom, 3-3/4" between top hole and plug, 4-1/2" between bottom holes

Dashboard Gasket: $12

Motorola Television Mask for Models VT-71, etc. (VTmask)

These are the long awaited masks to replace those rock hard or melted masks from years ago. Pictured on the right is an original mask, and on the left is the reproduction. Both masks are made of foam material with a smooth skin surface.

The back side is cupped to fit over the CRT, just like the original. (The mold was made from an original that was still in good condition.)

Click on the picture to see a larger view.

The originals were spray painted with a gray paint around the visible part of the mask. My reproductions are tinted in the manufacturing process to a gray, making it unnecessary to paint them.

Installation note: It may be difficult to get the CRT to seat into the depression on the back of the mask. Try using water, K-Y jelly, or some other lubricant that dries quickly. You don't want to use Vaseline or something else that will stay on the rubber for a long time as the rubber may be adversely affected by it over time.

1 Mask: $42.00

RCA TRK-12 Television Mask (TRKmask)

Reproduction mask for the beautiful TRK-12. You may not need one right now, but wouldn't it be nice to have a spare in case yours deteriorates or gets damaged. Made to match originals in size and density. Color is an ivory-white, slightly on the yellow side.

1937 Philco Tone/Power Switch Repair Service

Got a 1937 Philco 610, 620, 630... with a broken AC switch/tone control shaft like the one in the picture? They get broken at the weakest point, the place where the retaining clip sits in the groove cut into the shaft.

New controls and even used controls are nearly nonexistent, but you can have the control repaired.

Pull the switch out and send it to me. I'll disassemble it, make a new shaft for it, rivet the shaft to the wiper, clean the controls, and reassemble it. You'll be good to go in no time. Actually, in about a week. Cost is $25 which includes shipping from me back to you. Send me an e-mail before you send the control to me and we'll get it started. (1940 and 1950 Philco's may also have the same size shafts.)
